How many times have anglers stood at the shore and watched as aluminum cans and trash float down the river and ruin the shoreline and prime fish habitat? Every fisherman has a responsibility to protect the rivers and streams they enjoy. Fishing involves a lot of down time, taking advantage of that time to pick up trash is a great way to clean up the environment and help sustain fish populations for future generations.
Soda Lake located near the Potholes Reservoir in the pristine environment of the Columbia Wildlife Refuge is an ideal location for fishing and hunting. A winter trip to the lake might leave an angler wondering how the lake came to be known as Soda Lake. The hundreds of bottles and cans frozen to the shoreline seem to provide an answer but they are a recent addition.
